Respiratory Therapist - Adult Critical Care (Part Time/Full Time) (Medical)

Location: Tufts Medical Center, Massachusetts; onsite clinical role

Pay range: $43.00–$47.41 per hour, plus applicable shift differentials and sign-on bonus eligibility.

What you will do

• Assess patients with cardiopulmonary dysfunction and deliver prescribed respiratory therapy across adult, neonatal, and pediatric populations.
• Initiate, manage, troubleshoot, and wean patients from invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation.
• Administer oxygen, aerosolized medications, positive-pressure therapies, nitric oxide, and other prescribed treatments.
• Perform blood gas analysis, pulmonary function testing, pulse oximetry, EKGs, and other diagnostic and monitoring procedures.
• Provide airway management, manual resuscitation, and respiratory support during code responses, high-risk deliveries, and patient transport.
• Document assessments, interventions, test results, equipment checks, and daily rounds in the medical record.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree from an accredited Respiratory Care program.
• Massachusetts respiratory care license required.
• RRT or CRT certification required; RRT status is required at Tufts Medical Center, with new graduates expected to obtain RRT within 3–6 months.
• Basic Life Support certification.
• Ability to stand and walk for approximately 90% of the shift, transport equipment weighing up to 100 pounds, and work effectively in emergency and stressful situations.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, cardiopulmonary physiology, respiratory science, patient assessment, and treatment planning.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited Respiratory Care program.
• One year of experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist.
• Advanced credentials such as NPS or ACCS.
