Surgical Technologist

Pay range: $35.00–$39.90 per hour

What you will do

• Support the surgical team during a wide range of operating room procedures.
• Prepare and organize instruments, supplies, equipment, and surgical rooms.
• Maintain aseptic technique during setup, patient draping, and surgery.
• Perform surgical counts, manage intraoperative medications, and handle specimens according to policy.
• Assist with patient positioning, transportation, room turnover, equipment decontamination, and intraoperative support.
• Participate in quality improvement, staff orientation, precepting, continuing education, and emergency preparedness.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Graduation from an accredited surgical technology program, military surgical technology training, or qualifying prior surgical technologist employment.
• Surgical Technologist Certification (CST) required for technologists employed after July 1, 2013.
• 12 months to less than 3 years of healthcare experience.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced knowledge of aseptic technique and infection prevention, plus working knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, microbiology, pharmacology, computers, and surgical equipment.
