What you will do
- Oversee and integrate research and education budgets across and Tufts Medical Center, including Dean and CAO office budgets.
- Direct funds flow between , Tufts Medical Center, and Tufts University School of Medicine for research infrastructure, shared services, educational roles, joint appointments, and named positions.
- Support research priorities including CTSI initiatives, research and education programs, cluster hire funding, and clinical trial funding models.
- Lead financial policy development for research and special funds in alignment with institutional priorities and federal guidelines.
- Develop NIH/F&A funding decrease models, lead F&A Joint Allocation Group processes, and optimize Medicare cost report reimbursements related to education.
- Establish system-wide research and philanthropic fund accounting infrastructure, oversee faculty funding streams, and ensure philanthropic fund compliance.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field.
- At least 10 years of progressive financial management experience, including leadership in a complex academic healthcare environment.
- Experience with research and education finance, budget development, funds flow, and sponsored program financial management.
- Deep knowledge of federal research and academic funding regulations, including NIH funding and Medicare cost reporting.
- Strong leadership, financial modeling, analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to navigate a complex, matrixed organization and direct senior-level staff.
Nice to have
- Master’s degree in a related field.
- CPA, CMA, or CFA credential.
- Experience in an academic medical center, medical school, or integrated health system.
- Experience with philanthropy finance, academic budgeting, endowed positions, faculty appointments, CTSI funding, and federal indirect cost structures.
