Transportation Manager (Manufacturing)

Location: Onsite in Lebanon, Ohio, United States; standard office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM or a similar schedule.

Salary: USD $90,000 per year

Manufactures equipment and systems for the international pulp and paper process industries at a facility in Lebanon, Ohio.

What you will do

• Manage shipping and receiving employees, including hiring decisions, performance reviews, time-off approvals, overtime approvals, and policy enforcement.
• Establish and maintain shipping and receiving procedures, freight budgets, packing standards, containerization, and shipment documentation.
• Coordinate delivery of capital systems to customers, suppliers, and other company locations.
• Negotiate transportation contracts and review freight rates, discounts, shipment classifications, carrier usage, and payment reports.
• Manage import and export shipments through customs, including duties, taxes, freight claims, and billing disputes.
• Monitor inbound shipments, expedite suppliers when needed, and report delivery status to manufacturing staff and management.

Requirements

• At least five years of experience in the distribution or transportation industry.
• Knowledge of ICC/DOT regulations, import and export regulations, transportation pricing methods, and pre-audit services is mandatory.
• Strong verbal and written communication, organization, negotiation, decision-making, and self-management skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
• Ability to access and navigate all facility departments, including the production floor, with occasional lifting, bending, standing, or stooping.
• An associate’s or bachelor’s degree in business administration, logistics, or a related field is preferred.

• Prior management or supervisory experience.
• Familiarity with an ERP system.
• Knowledge of Lean Management principles.
