TL;DR
Maritime Systems Engineer (Maritime Engineering): Providing senior-level systems engineering and integration support for U.S. Special Operations Command maritime capabilities across design, development, testing, certification, production, and sustainment with an accent on undersea and surface platforms, engineering risk, and acquisition processes. Focus on evaluating technical designs, developing test plans, reviewing engineering changes, and coordinating complex maritime programs across government, contractor, and operational stakeholders.

Location: MacDill AFB, Tampa, Florida — on-site. Travel up to 25%. U.S. citizenship and an active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility are required.

What you will do

  • Provide systems engineering and systems integration support throughout the acquisition lifecycle for crewed and uncrewed maritime platforms, undersea systems, and specialized mission equipment.
  • Evaluate designs, development plans, specifications, technical approaches, engineering studies, cost estimates, schedules, and performance indicators.
  • Develop technical inputs for leadership briefings covering program status, engineering challenges, risks, and recommended resolutions.
  • Develop and evaluate test requirements, objectives, plans, and engineering performance measures; support testing, certification, qualification, and acceptance activities.
  • Review engineering change proposals, waivers, deviations, nonconforming materials, and contract modifications.
  • Coordinate engineering activities across Government, contractor, program management, budget, and operational organizations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering field.
  • At least 10 years of systems engineering or systems integration experience supporting acquisition programs.
  • Hands-on maritime or Naval engineering experience involving submarines, submersibles, Naval ships, surface vessels, or comparable maritime systems.
  • Experience with technical drawings, computer-aided design or graphical interface systems, test planning, certification, and acceptance activities.
  • Experience supporting engineering planning, acquisition activities, budget cycles, financial controls, design, production, fielding, and sustainment.
  • DAWIA Practitioner equivalency in Engineering, Program Management, or Science & Technology is required, or must be attainable within six months with an approved deferral.

Nice to have

  • Master's degree in an Engineering field with at least eight years of relevant systems engineering or systems integration experience.
  • Experience with SOF maritime programs, Naval Special Warfare capabilities, combat diving systems, or specialized SOF maritime mission equipment.
  • Knowledge of SOF-unique acquisition processes.
