TL;DR
Director, Clinical Data & AI (Clinical Data Platforms and AI): Leading the global strategy, architecture, and operational execution of clinical data and AI capabilities for end-to-end evidence generation with an accent on clinical data lakes, interoperability, regulatory compliance, and AI-enabled analytics. Focus on integrating data engineering, clinical data management, statistics, programming, synthetic data, simulation, and virtual twin development into scalable and auditable clinical workflows.
Location: CR - Alajuela, Coyol; hybrid work model applies to most professional roles.
Base compensation: $165,250–$236,000 USD annually, plus bonus and benefits.

What you will do
- Define and execute the global Clinical Data & AI strategy for evidence generation and AI transformation.
- Own the architecture and evolution of clinical data lakes, standardized data models, clinical systems, pipelines, and interoperability frameworks.
- Lead AI/ML, advanced analytics, data quality automation, clinical reporting, cross-study insights, and meta-analysis capabilities.
- Develop strategies for synthetic clinical data, study simulation, and virtual twins supporting study design and evidence generation.
- Oversee clinical data management, risk-based monitoring, study startup and closeout, and inspection-ready data quality.
- Integrate statistical programming, clinical programming, data engineering, regulatory governance, and delivery operations across global teams.
Requirements
- BA required; a PhD or Master’s in Data Science, Biostatistics, Computer Science, or a related field is preferred.
- At least 10 years of experience across clinical data, AI/ML, and data platforms in medtech, pharma, or biotech.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary teams across data management, engineering, data science, AI, and programming.
- Proven ownership of enterprise data architecture, such as a clinical data lake or platform; Databricks is preferred.
- Strong experience supporting regulatory submissions and clinical evidence generation.
- Technical breadth across data engineering, clinical data management, AI, analytics, statistical programming, and regulatory compliance.
