Technical Product Owner (Fintech)

Location: HQ - San Diego, California, United States

Salary: $70,000–$115,000 per year, plus discretionary annual cash and restricted stock unit bonus targets of 10% each.

What you will do

• Own the backlog for Core Services platforms, including Identity, Rules Manager, Document Service, Notifications, and core banking APIs.
• Analyze technical architecture, API contracts, data schemas, and system dependencies to create precise epics, features, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
• Prioritize work based on technical debt, system risk, regulatory impact, business value, and production health metrics.
• Partner with engineering leaders, architects, QA, infrastructure, and business teams to evaluate feasibility and deliver scalable solutions.
• Lead sprint planning, backlog refinement, release planning, and release governance.
• Report on roadmap progress, risks, blockers, delivery outcomes, incidents, and system health.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree.
• 5+ years of experience as a Product Owner or Product Manager owning backend or platform engineering teams.
• Strong knowledge of REST and GraphQL APIs, microservices architecture, distributed systems, and event-driven design.
• Ability to interpret technical documentation, API specifications, ERDs, and architecture diagrams.
• Experience writing detailed user stories and acceptance criteria for backend systems and managing complex cross-system dependencies.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments and regulated industries such as banking, fintech, or financial services is strongly preferred.
