Maintenance Engineer (Building Systems)

Location: Chicago, United States; onsite at downtown commercial properties

Salary: $31.72–$43.27 per hour

What you will do

• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance, repairs, adjustments, and troubleshooting on building equipment and systems.
• Respond to and complete tenant service work orders while providing professional customer service.
• Manage or assist subcontractors during maintenance, repair, and building projects.
• Monitor energy management equipment, adjust set points, and document work performed.
• Coordinate with the property manager and chief engineer on services, project planning, and tenant improvements.
• Maintain mechanical, utility, and vacant areas and ensure fire/life/safety equipment operates as designed.

Requirements

• Ability to troubleshoot MEP system failures, complete repairs, and develop workable solutions.
• Comprehensive knowledge of energy management systems.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and computerized maintenance management systems.
• Ability to prioritize work, adapt to changing conditions, and collaborate effectively.
• Must verify employment eligibility to work in the United States.
• Ability to participate in first-shift hours, on-call coverage, after-hours, and weekend work as needed.

Nice to have

• Two or more years of commercial building and equipment operations experience.
• High school diploma, equivalent, or a two-year technical degree.
• Regional or local building-operation licenses or certifications.
• Universal CFC, SMA, SMT, or LEED certification.
• Valid driver’s license, basic computer skills, and ability to perform physical work including lifting up to 100 pounds, ladder work, and outdoor work.
