TL;DR
PPL Business Development Specialist (Energy & Construction): Identifying and securing new business for storage solutions by screening opportunities, developing customer relationships, and managing complex project bids with an accent on commercial contracting, negotiations, and risk management. Focus on influencing project requirements, coordinating cross-functional bid teams, and securing medium-scale contracts in the energy and construction industry.
Location: New Castle, Delaware, United States; permanent work location at a regional operations or sales office. Temporary assignments to project sites may be required.

What you will do
- Identify and secure new business opportunities for storage products and services in a single-country or smaller multi-country market.
- Screen opportunities and manage multiple project bids, including contracts of up to US$30 million.
- Develop long-term customer relationships and identify new product, market, and partnering opportunities.
- Assess commercial risks related to contract terms, structures, pricing, and project profitability in coordination with Legal and Finance.
- Direct bid-team collaboration across estimating, proposals, legal, finance, tax, and other functions.
- Manage pre-contract activities, proposal costs, opportunity gate reviews, and required management approvals.
Requirements
- 15+ years of company or industry experience, including 10+ years in business development, sales, proposals, or marketing.
- At least 7–10 years since obtaining a first degree; 3+ years of operational experience is preferred.
- Professional degree, preferably in engineering or a related BS program.
- Knowledge of Storage Solutions engineering, fabrication, and construction methods.
- Extensive experience with commercial contracting, negotiations, customer relations, and risk management.
- Strong analytical, communication, presentation, negotiation, multitasking, and business-partnering skills.
Nice to have
- Experience in the energy and construction industry.
- Operational experience in a related business environment.
