TL;DR
Senior Counsel, Health Privacy (HIPAA/AI Governance): Providing legal guidance on health privacy, HIPAA, state health privacy laws, health data contracts, and AI governance with an accent on regulatory compliance, risk mitigation, and data protection. Focus on advising on algorithmic decision-making involving PHI, leading breach response and regulatory reporting, and developing privacy frameworks, policies, and training materials.
Location: Onsite role based in Bentonville, Arkansas; Washington, DC; or San Bruno, California, United States
Annual salary: $130,000–$260,000 for Bentonville; $169,000–$338,000 for San Bruno or Washington, DC. Additional annual or quarterly performance bonuses and possible stock compensation.

What you will do
- Provide legal guidance on HIPAA, state health privacy laws, and emerging health data regulations.
- Identify and mitigate health data privacy risks while developing compliance programs and frameworks.
- Advise on AI and health data issues, including data provenance, algorithmic decision-making involving PHI, and AI governance.
- Support breach response and regulatory reporting.
- Draft and negotiate health data and services contracts.
- Develop privacy policies, playbooks, training materials, and legal strategies with compliance, product, technology, and business partners.
Requirements
- Law degree from an accredited law school and at least five years of legal experience.
- License to practice law in at least one state.
- Deep knowledge of federal and state health privacy laws.
- Experience advising on compliance programs, data protection strategies, and legal risk mitigation.
- Strong contract drafting, negotiation, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Experience with AI applications in healthcare, including data provenance, training, and privacy protections.
