Senior Bioprocess Scientist/Engineer (Biotechnology)

Location: On-site laboratory role in Palo Alto, California, USA

Salary: $100,436–$143,480 per year

What you will do

• Develop, optimize, and troubleshoot bioprocesses for enzymes, microbial products, and other bio-based solutions.
• Design and execute laboratory experiments to improve process understanding, product performance, and manufacturing readiness.
• Lead or support scale-up from laboratory development through pilot plants and commercial manufacturing.
• Apply scientific and engineering principles to solve technical challenges and improve process quality, efficiency, and performance.
• Analyze experimental and manufacturing data and develop new technologies, formulations, and manufacturing processes.
• Collaborate with R&D, Manufacturing, Quality, Regulatory, Engineering, and Commercial teams; mentor junior scientists, engineers, interns, and technicians.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Biotechnology, Food Science, Chemistry, Materials Science, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant industry experience.
• Relevant experience in process development, scale-up, manufacturing support, or industrial bioproduct development.
• Ability to design experiments, interpret complex datasets, and translate findings into practical solutions.
• Experience working across laboratory, pilot-scale, and manufacturing environments.
• Knowledge of bioprocessing, downstream recovery, formulation development, or enzyme, microbial, and bio-based product development.
• Strong communication, cross-functional collaboration, and project execution skills.
