TL;DR
Cable Harness Designer (Robotics): Designing, analyzing, prototyping, testing, and troubleshooting cable harnesses for robotic and autonomous systems with an accent on vehicle power distribution, communication buses, embedded electronics, and production readiness. Focus on selecting connectors and cabling, integrating prototypes onto host equipment, developing production tooling, and supporting harness designs through manufacturing.

Location: Pittsburgh, PA, US; unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. is required.

What you will do

  • Work with program management and project engineers to define cable harness requirements.
  • Design harnesses for vehicle power distribution, communication buses, box builds, and embedded electronics.
  • Select components and cabling based on program performance and functional requirements.
  • Capture harness designs using Solidworks, Altium Designer, and Visio.
  • Fabricate and integrate initial prototypes, develop wire harness boards, and test designs.
  • Launch designs to production and troubleshoot issues throughout the product lifecycle.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree or Bachelor of Science in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • 3+ years of cable harness design experience.
  • Experience with CAD and EDA tools, including Solidworks, Altium Designer, and Visio.
  • Experience with rectangular, M12, MIL-spec, and modular connectors and related tooling.
  • Experience with ERP systems, engineering debug equipment, and technical design documentation.
  • Ability to work in the U.S. without restriction; visa sponsorship is not available.
