TL;DR
IT Audit Readiness Associate (Cybersecurity): Supporting federal clients with IT audit readiness, control assessments, and remediation verification with an accent on NIST compliance, A-123 workpapers, and cybersecurity standards. Focus on analyzing audit requests, leading control-owner meetings, reviewing POA&Ms, and documenting independent validation of remediation results.

Location: Alexandria, Virginia; ability to work from the Alexandria office two days per week required. Work location may change based on client requirements.

Salary: $60,000–$78,000 per year, plus potential bonuses and benefits.

What you will do

  • Support federal clients with IT audit readiness across IT general and automated application controls.
  • Analyze auditor and assessor requests, identify supporting documentation, and review responses for compliance.
  • Organize audit requests, monitor response timelines, and follow up with control owners.
  • Review artifacts and draft FMFIA A-123 Appendix A workpapers.
  • Conduct A-123 walkthroughs, communicate findings, and review Plans of Action and Milestones for remediation sufficiency.
  • Perform independent verification and validation of audit-finding remediation and document results for management review.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Accounting, Business Administration, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • At least one year of federal client experience and working knowledge of key NIST publications.
  • Professional communication and clear business writing skills.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance; U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Ability to work from the Alexandria, Virginia office two days per week.
  • Ability to maintain continuing government and non-government education requirements, including GAGAS requirements.

Nice to have

  • External assessment workpaper writing experience under CIGIE or GAGAS fieldwork requirements.
  • Experience with OMB A-123, OIG FISCAM, or OIG FISMA assessments.
  • Experience with Diligent One, ServiceNow, ACL, or HighBond.
  • CPA or relevant certifications such as CISA or Security+.
