TL;DR
Payroll Specialist (Payroll/ADP/Rippling): Processing accurate, compliant payroll for employees across growing manufacturing sites with an accent on multi-state payroll, tax filings, deductions, and reconciliation. Focus on resolving payroll discrepancies, maintaining audit-ready records, and supporting payroll systems and workforce reporting as operations expand.
Location: Research Triangle Park, Durham, NC; relocation to the Benson, NC office when operational

What you will do
- Process accurate and timely payroll, including wages, overtime, bonuses, deductions, tax withholdings, and off-cycle corrections.
- Verify timesheets, maintain payroll and compensation records, and resolve payroll discrepancies and employee inquiries.
- Administer benefits deductions, direct deposits, new-hire setup, terminations, wage garnishments, and court-ordered deductions.
- Prepare payroll tax filings, reconcile payroll tax liabilities and payroll data with the general ledger, and support month-end close.
- Track PTO and leave accruals with the People Partner and support payroll system upgrades, integrations, and audits.
- Generate labor cost, headcount, and overtime reports for budgeting and workforce decisions.
Requirements
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years of payroll processing experience, preferably in a multi-state or high-volume environment.
- Hands-on experience with ADP, Rippling, QuickBooks Payroll, or similar payroll software.
- Working knowledge of wage and hour laws, tax withholding requirements, garnishments, and payroll tax filings.
- Strong Excel or Google Sheets skills for reconciliation and reporting, with excellent attention to detail and confidentiality.
- Must be a U.S. Person due to access to U.S. export-controlled information or facilities.
Nice to have
- CPP certification.
- Experience with international payroll, multiple countries or currencies, and global EOR/PEO providers.
- Experience with general ledger reconciliation.
