What you will do

• Evaluate patients with ocular motility disturbances and recommend treatment to referring ophthalmologists.
• Select diagnostic methods and procedures for continued patient examination.
• Provide approved ocular motility and vision treatments.
• Organize and participate in vision and ocular motility screenings and conferences for ophthalmology residents.
• Document ocular motility disturbances using external motility photography and maintain prism and lens inventory.
• Teach ophthalmic technology skills, support students preparing for national certification exams, and present at ophthalmology conferences.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of a two-year orthoptist or ophthalmic medical technician program.
• Orthoptist or ophthalmic medical technician certification.
• Two years of orthoptist experience, including teaching experience.
• Knowledge of eye anatomy, physiology, common diseases, and ophthalmic instruments.
• Ability to work with pediatric and adult patients in a high-volume, fast-paced clinic and assist visually impaired patients with transfers.
