Floater / On Call Chef

Location: Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada

Compensation: CAD 26–28 per hour

What you will do

• Plan, prepare, and direct cafeteria meals, daily specials, and catering events.
• Cook from scratch with local ingredients and develop new recipes, menus, and profit-generating ideas.
• Create food preparation schedules and maintain efficient kitchen processes.
• Use a wide range of preparation methods, including roasting, grilling, steaming, poaching, boiling, and baking.
• Lead, coach, train, and delegate tasks to culinary staff while supporting operations as needed.
• Manage suppliers, budgets, cost discrepancies, food quality, customer satisfaction, and kitchen safety.

Requirements

• Red Seal Chef certification.
• Five years of recent related food service experience leading high-volume culinary teams.
• ServeSafe and FoodSafe certification.
• Experience with cost control and employee management.
• Superior written and verbal English communication skills, with the ability to communicate in French as appropriate.
• Strong knowledge of safe equipment use, organization, quality standards, confidentiality, and employee and customer service.
