Sr Estimator (Industrial/Mechanical Engineering)

Location: Plainfield, Illinois, United States. Permanent work location at a regional office, with possible temporary assignments to project sites.

Pay range: USD $93,000–$113,000 annually.

What you will do

• Prepare cost estimates for commercial proposals with minimal management supervision.
• Develop fully priced estimates in collaboration with engineering, production, procurement, subcontracts, human resources, operations, supply chain, and fabrication.
• Use business-unit financial data, project data, pricing, and rates to build accurate estimates.
• Manage estimating projects and processes independently while addressing difficult and complex problems.
• Meet estimate deadlines and support competitive performance in local and international markets.
• Train and develop direct reports while maintaining a succession plan.

Requirements

• BS or professional degree in Industrial Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
• College or university diploma in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering.
• Typically 10 years since the first degree and 15+ years of relevant experience.
• 5–10+ years of experience in an estimating role.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, presentation, negotiation, and business-partnering skills.
• Ability to work independently, manage tight deadlines, and build credibility through senior-management level.
