Sr Phlebotomist (Medtech)

Location: Onsite in Silver Spring, Maryland; this is not a remote position.

What you will do

• Verify test requisitions and patient identification before collecting specimens.
• Obtain blood specimens through venipunctures and finger sticks while maintaining aseptic technique and specimen integrity.
• Track collections, document collection times, maintain daily tallies, and record quality-control results.
• Resolve unusual test orders with physicians, pathologists, nursing staff, or reference laboratories.
• Manage patient report printing, answer and triage billing questions, and follow up with patients.
• Schedule specimen pickups with FedEx or Medspeed and maintain compliance with hospital and legal standards.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of phlebotomy experience required.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Phlebotomy certificate required if required by the state.
• Ability to work in an office setting while wearing scrubs and tracking every draw.
• Completion of HIPAA/PHI privacy, policy compliance, and security training within the first 30 days of hire.
• BS/BA degree preferred.
