TL;DR
Software Engineer II (Platform Engineering): Building internal platform tools, backend services, APIs, data models, and frontend experiences that improve developer productivity across Fandango and related digital products with an accent on scalable web development, testing, observability, and deployment workflows. Focus on developing React and Next.js tools, supporting CI/CD pipelines, troubleshooting production applications, and collaborating with Platform, Infrastructure, and SRE teams.
Location: Fully remote within the United States, with approximately 10% travel for periodic in-person collaboration and possible in-person interviews.

What you will do
- Design, develop, test, and maintain internal platform tools and services.
- Build backend services, REST APIs, and data models supporting multiple digital products.
- Develop frontend experiences for internal tools using React and Next.js.
- Collaborate with engineering, product, Platform, Infrastructure, and SRE teams.
- Monitor, debug, and troubleshoot applications using logging, metrics, and observability tools.
- Support CI/CD deployments, production environments, documentation, code reviews, and on-call operations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Programming experience from internships, academic projects, open-source contributions, or up to 2 years of professional software development.
- Familiarity with JavaScript or TypeScript and modern web frameworks such as React.
- Basic understanding of REST APIs, databases, Git, software testing, and development fundamentals.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, collaboration, curiosity, and willingness to learn.
Nice to have
- Experience building web applications or internal tools through internships or projects.
- Exposure to AWS, CI/CD concepts, and modern software development workflows.
- Experience with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or Claude Code.
- Interest in developer productivity, platform engineering, or engineering workflow improvements.
