MLS Microbiology PRN Days (Every Other Weekend)

Location: Knoxville, TN, USA; onsite, PRN shifts every other weekend

What you will do

• Perform accurate testing of patient specimens across laboratory departments according to established protocols.
• Verify, document, and report test results while investigating unacceptable specimens and related issues.
• Conduct quality control procedures, evaluate QC results, and report discrepancies.
• Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments and equipment.
• Meet testing, maintenance, and reporting deadlines while producing consistent results in a high-volume environment.
• Support technicians, phlebotomists, secretaries, and medical staff and collaborate across departments.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required from an accredited college with an NCCLS-approved Medical Laboratory Science program, or completion of a clinical laboratory training program.
• MLS certification required through ASCP, AMT, or AAB.
• Four years of medical technology experience preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Knowledge of medical technology principles, methods, equipment, and techniques.
• Strong verbal and written communication, multitasking ability, stress management, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to follow laboratory, hospital, universal-precaution, and safety procedures and to perform light lifting and frequent movement of objects.
