Location: Cambridge, Wellesley, and Framingham, Massachusetts; may require floating to satellite offices with personal transportation
Pay range: $21.53–$26.91 per hour

What you will do
- Collect patient medical, ocular, medication, allergy, and visit histories.
- Perform visual acuity, lensometry, refraction, keratometry, pupil evaluation, eye-pressure measurement, and drop instillation.
- Assist with diagnostic testing and ocular imaging, including OCT, topography, visual fields, and IOL Master testing.
- Prepare consent forms and assist physicians with in-office procedures.
- Set up, clean, disinfect, calibrate, and maintain examination rooms, instruments, supplies, and equipment.
- Support clinic flow and document examination information in the electronic health record.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least one year of experience in a healthcare-related setting.
- Basic Life Support certification, or the ability to obtain it within three months of hire.
- Knowledge of eye terminology, basic ocular anatomy, and physiology.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, attention-to-detail, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to assist elderly, visually impaired, wheelchair-using, and sensory-impaired patients and to work in a fast-paced, high-volume clinic.
Nice to have
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- Completion of ophthalmic, optometric, or medical assistant training, or the AAO Home Study Course.
- Previous ophthalmic practice experience.
- Experience with computer scheduling systems.
