TL;DR
Staff Systems Engineer (Power Systems): Defining and validating system-level requirements, architectures, interfaces, and verification strategies for power generation and energy products with an accent on systems integration, requirements traceability, and product validation. Focus on designing electrical power distribution architectures, leading laboratory and field testing, managing technical risks, and mentoring engineers through product launch.
Location: Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA; onsite

What you will do
- Define, document, maintain, and trace customer needs and system-level requirements throughout the product lifecycle.
- Develop and maintain system architectures, interfaces, block diagrams, boundary diagrams, system models, and Interface Control Documents.
- Plan and lead system verification and validation strategies, including laboratory and field testing.
- Collaborate across engineering disciplines on product strategies, technical decisions, systems integration, and troubleshooting.
- Identify project risks and opportunities, develop mitigation plans, and align stakeholders.
- Mentor less experienced engineers and support on-schedule, on-cost, and on-quality product delivery.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Software, Systems Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- 8+ years of relevant engineering experience.
- Experience with systems engineering and requirements management methodologies in product development, such as the V-Model.
- Experience with power generation equipment, generator systems, power management systems, and complex electrical power distribution architectures.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, collaboration, and cross-functional leadership skills.
- Ability to work onsite in Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA.
Nice to have
- Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and/or INCOSE certification.
- Knowledge of medium-voltage applications from 1–35 kV, data center power distribution, and generator paralleling or grid-tied systems.
- Experience with system architecture documentation, modeling, calculations, data acquisition systems, and structured corrective and preventive actions.
