General Maintenance Worker

Location: Melrose/Wakefield Hospital, 585 Lebanon St, Melrose, Massachusetts, United States. Full-time onsite role, Tuesday–Saturday night shift, 40 hours per week.

Salary: $20.12–$25.15 per hour.

What you will do

• Perform general, preventive, and corrective maintenance across hospital buildings, grounds, equipment, and utility systems.
• Repair electrical systems and devices, including switches, ballasts, motors, controls, lighting fixtures, and circuits.
• Handle plumbing, carpentry, masonry, painting, tile, sheet metal, roofing, soldering, and welding tasks within capability.
• Service and repair hospital equipment, patient beds, mechanical systems, medical gas, air handling units, boilers, and hot water systems.
• Inspect safety equipment, install or replace equipment and components, procure parts, and maintain inventory.
• Participate in project work, troubleshooting, snow removal, sanding, workshop cleaning, and safe hazardous-material disposal.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least one year of building maintenance experience.
• On-the-job training in one or more building trades.
• Ability to perform work according to applicable codes, standards, diagrams, manuals, and manufacturer specifications.

Nice to have

• Completion of a vocational or trade school program.
• Two years of building maintenance experience.
