What you will do
- Translate customer location and Metro Ethernet product specifications into network designs and bills of materials.
- Verify work orders, customer information, service details, and compliance with MEF standards.
- Assess customer serviceability, franchise coverage, Type II provider connectivity, network bandwidth, and equipment port capacity.
- Coordinate fiber build costs, distances, wavelengths, and active transport requirements with Sales Engineering and CRAN Engineering.
- Create graphical customer network designs and equipment bills of materials using provided technical information.
- Support local technical personnel with OSP and ISP fiber build cost analysis; occasional travel may be required.
Requirements
- 3–5 years of directly related engineering experience.
- Knowledge of Metro Ethernet networks, CWDM/DWDM concepts, and optical and electrical Layer 1 hardware.
- Knowledge of IP services and experience documenting network designs in Microsoft Visio.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Engineering degree or relevant work experience; certifications as required.
Nice to have
- Knowledge of MEF standards.
- Knowledge of Layer 2/3 switching and routing protocols.
- SONET/ATM network knowledge.
