TL;DR
Software Engineer, Specs Lenses, Level 5 (AI) (C++/Agentic Workflows): Building features for Snapchat’s AR engine and Lens Studio, enabling immersive experiences across Snapchat and Specs with an accent on modern C++, AI-assisted development, and developer tooling. Focus on designing agentic systems, integrating multi-agent workflows into production software, and improving cross-platform infrastructure, reliability, and performance.
Location: Los Angeles; office work expected 4+ days per week under ’s “default together” policy

What you will do
- Design, develop, and support features for chat’s AR engine and Lens Studio across chat and Specs.
- Build, integrate, and improve agentic development workflows and developer tooling.
- Contribute to technical roadmaps, architecture decisions, technical specifications, code reviews, and design reviews.
- Collaborate with product, design, and engineering partners.
- Improve code quality, reliability, performance, maintainability, security, and developer productivity.
Requirements
- 6+ years of post-Bachelor’s software development experience, or 3+ years after a relevant Master’s degree, or a relevant PhD.
- Strong proficiency in C++ and modern C++ development.
- Experience with Python, JavaScript, or TypeScript scripting.
- Experience designing or integrating agentic systems, including tool use, context management, evaluation, reliability, or developer-workflow integration.
- Experience with 3D engines such as Unity or Unreal Engine, build systems and developer infrastructure, and large or complex codebases.
- Experience with Qt, ImGui, JavaScript engines, embedded runtimes, or comparable cross-platform desktop and runtime frameworks.
Nice to have
- Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, or Codex.
- Experience with multi-agent systems, agent harness engineering, context engineering, or AI-agent tooling ecosystems.
