Surgical Technologist II (Surgical Services)

Location: Onsite at Tufts Medical Center

Salary: $35.00–$39.90 per hour

What you will do

• Support the surgical team throughout the perioperative experience in the Operating Room.
• Prepare and organize instruments, supplies, equipment, and operating rooms for surgical cases.
• Maintain aseptic technique during setup, patient draping, and procedures.
• Scrub surgical cases, assist surgeons, and perform surgical counts with the circulating nurse.
• Manage intraoperative medications and surgical specimens according to hospital policies and physician orders.
• Support patient positioning and transport, equipment troubleshooting, room decontamination, turnover, quality improvement, and emergency preparedness.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of an accredited Surgical Tech Program, qualifying military surgical technology training, or qualifying prior surgical technologist employment before July 1, 2013.
• Less than 12 months of healthcare experience.
• Basic Life Support certification.
• New graduates must obtain the required credential within 12 months of graduation.
• Knowledge of aseptic technique, infection prevention, anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, microbiology, pharmacology, surgical equipment, and patient care.
