What you will do
- Develop and validate Standard Minute Values, labor content, costing standards, and manufacturing productivity analyses for apparel products.
- Analyze garment construction, operation breakdowns, manufacturing methods, and factory processes to improve efficiency.
- Optimize fabric utilization, marker efficiency, pattern placement, spreading, cutting, bundling, and material handling to reduce waste.
- Lead value engineering and continuous improvement initiatives while maintaining product quality, performance, and consistency.
- Collaborate with product development, sourcing, merchandising, suppliers, and manufacturing partners on cost-effective production solutions.
- Benchmark costs and assess sourcing options through supplier evaluations, manufacturing audits, productivity studies, and profitability analysis.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in industrial, apparel, textile, manufacturing engineering, supply chain management, or a related field, or 8–10 years of relevant manufacturing experience.
- 5+ years of experience in technical apparel costing, industrial engineering, or manufacturing engineering.
- Strong knowledge of garment construction, apparel manufacturing processes, and global sourcing.
- Expertise in fabric consumption engineering, marker efficiency, production cutting-room operations, and SMV development.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and costing models, with strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to travel internationally and work across diverse cultures, time zones, and manufacturing environments.
Nice to have
- Training or certification in industrial engineering, lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or GSD.
- Experience with automated cutting systems, digital marker software, and fabric optimization tools.
- Knowledge of knit, woven, outerwear, performance, and athletic apparel categories.
- Familiarity with manufacturing operations across Asia, Central America, and other sourcing regions.
