Security Operations Center (SOC) Chief (Cybersecurity): Leading a federal enterprise Security Operations Center across cyber defense monitoring, incident response, threat analysis, and program delivery with an accent on incident command, security posture assessment, and government stakeholder coordination. Focus on directing high-severity security events, managing risk and deliverables, and operating within a classified government-controlled environment.

Location: Onsite in Suitland, Maryland, United States, within a government-controlled secure facility

What you will do

  • Lead all SOC activities across cyber defense monitoring, alert triage, threat analysis, and incident response.
  • Serve as primary incident commander during active security events, directing containment, escalation, and multi-team response.
  • Manage project schedules, risk registers, issue logs, deliverables, and corrective actions.
  • Lead Information Security GAP Analysis and communicate security deficiencies and remediation priorities to government stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with federal personnel as the primary contractor interface on security operations, program risk, and performance.
  • Maintain SOC standards, playbooks, governance documentation, executive reports, and continuous-improvement activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 7–10 years of cybersecurity experience with concurrent expertise in SOC management and incident response command.
  • Experience serving as a primary incident commander during high-severity events in a federal or classified environment.
  • Active Final Top Secret/SCI clearance required.
  • Must work onsite within a government-controlled secure facility.
  • Knowledge of the NICE Cybersecurity Workforce Framework, FISMA, NIST SP 800 series, and related federal cybersecurity standards.

Nice to have

  • Prior SOC Chief, SOC Director, or equivalent senior SOC leadership experience in a federal civilian or intelligence community environment.
  • Formal incident command training or experience with ICS/NIMS frameworks.
  • Experience with NIST CSF, RMF, SCIF-based classified SOC operations, PMP certification, or SOC maturity programs.
