Maintenance Operator (Chemical Manufacturing): Maintaining and troubleshooting plant and distribution systems, including boilers, heat exchangers, chillers, piping, valves, and related equipment, with an accent on preventative maintenance, equipment reliability, and EHS compliance. Focus on diagnosing breakdowns, executing shutdown activities, managing permits and LOTO procedures, and supporting safe production operations at the Deer Park site.

Location: Deer Park, Victoria, Australia; onsite at the plant

What you will do

  • Inspect, troubleshoot, diagnose, and oversee operational issues in plant and distribution systems, including boilers, heat exchangers, chillers, piping, valves, supports, and anchors.
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and monitor equipment performance to minimize downtime and support production requirements.
  • Respond to equipment breakdowns, identify root causes, recommend corrective actions, and adjust maintenance strategies based on downtime.
  • Write and issue work permits, maintain lockout/tagout procedures, and complete risk assessments for maintenance activities.
  • Execute plant start-up, shutdown, and site shutdown activities while supporting mechanical integrity and reliability.
  • Manage spare-parts inventory, purchasing requests, and coordination with shared services, the landlord, and neighboring sites.

Requirements

  • Trade qualification as a Fitter and Turner or Fitter/Welder.
  • Current confined-space entry ticket, forklift license, EWP ticket, and First Aid training.
  • Approximately five years of experience working in a manufacturing plant.
  • Mechanical and chemical process logic skills, problem-solving ability, root cause analysis, and priority-setting skills.
  • Working knowledge of plant and stores standards, operating procedures, EHS regulations, process safety, risk assessments, and maintenance permits.
  • Ability to work onsite at the Deer Park, Victoria, Australia plant.
