Clinical Assistant/Clinical Associate Professor of Physical Therapy (Hybrid Position)

Texas A&M International University is a Hispanic-serving institution developing an eight-semester Doctor of Physical Therapy program within its College of Nursing and Health Sciences.

What you will do

• Teach core DPT subjects, including neuroscience, movement science, neurorehabilitation, musculoskeletal practice, physiology, clinical diagnostics, interventions, prosthetics and orthotics, clinical medicine, pharmacology, radiology, pediatrics, evidence-based practice, and ethics.
• Teach or co-teach didactic and immersive laboratory courses related to areas of professional expertise.
• Deliver curriculum based on evidence, contemporary clinical practice, and CAPTE requirements.
• Establish and implement a scholarly agenda, including participation in original research and dissemination activities.
• Support community and university service, curriculum delivery, laboratory immersion, accreditation activities, and student progression.
• Interact effectively with students, administration, faculty, and staff.

Requirements

• Degree in physical therapy from an accredited institution; candidates without a DPT must hold or be in the candidacy phase of a terminal academic doctoral degree by the employment start date.
• Hold or be eligible for an active, unrestricted physical therapy license in any U.S. state.
• At least three years of full-time clinical practice after licensure for the Clinical Assistant Professor rank.
• Evidence of professional or community service, contemporary teaching expertise, satisfactory student evaluations, and participation in original research.
• For the Clinical Associate Professor rank: at least five years of full-time teaching experience at the assistant professor rank, four peer-reviewed publications or presentations, and two department-, college-, or university-level service activities.
• Regular on-campus and workplace attendance is required for face-to-face interactions.

Nice to have

• Participation in a CAPTE self-study specialty certification or equivalent higher-education certification in active learning, hybrid education, teaching models, or curriculum.
