Senior Protection Technical Training Instructor

Location: Charlotte, North Carolina, United States; willingness to travel at least 25% of the time.

Salary: $160,000–$190,000 per year for the Senior Engineer level; the range may differ for candidates hired at another level.

What you will do

• Create, deliver, maintain, and follow technical training for protective relay systems in simulated and real-world environments.
• Teach protection relay application and theory, protection design, relay settings, coordination studies, system modeling, and relay testing.
• Train individuals on communication-based protection, including IEC-61850, system fault analysis, and troubleshooting.
• Develop technical processes and procedures focused on protection relaying and new technologies.
• Oversee, mentor, and teach safe work practices, human performance improvement, and error-reduction tools.

Requirements

• Excellent teaching, training, and mentoring skills.
• In-depth knowledge and experience with relay settings and applications, protection design, and coordination studies for bus, line, transformer, capacitor, and other systems.
• Strong writing, documentation, and oral communication skills.
• Ability to work independently, take ownership of responsibilities, learn new skills, and collaborate in a team environment.
• Willingness to travel a minimum of 25% of the time.
