Technical Director (Chemical Informatics)

Salary: $70,000–$120,000 per year, negotiable

What you will do

• Own architecture strategy and lead modernization across the product portfolio.
• Direct the engineering team’s day-to-day development work, including prioritization, technical review, and delivery guidance.
• Manage AWS cloud infrastructure, production troubleshooting, builds, deployments, security, and technical documentation.
• Lead the transition from legacy Oracle/.NET systems and proprietary chemistry tooling toward PostgreSQL, Node.js, React, Linux, Chemaxon Choral, RDKit, and open-source molecular editors.
• Represent the company in technical discussions with enterprise customers, customer IT organizations, vendors, and licensing partners.
• Grow and mentor the engineering team while closely managing specialized contractors and transferring their expertise internally.

Requirements

• Hands-on technical leadership experience with responsibility for architecture and engineering delivery.
• Ability to work across legacy Oracle/.NET systems and modern PostgreSQL, Node.js/Fastify, React, React Native, Linux, and AWS environments.
• Experience troubleshooting production issues, running builds, and executing deployments.
• Ability to manage technical relationships with large enterprise customers and vendors.
• Strongly preferred: cheminformatics or chemistry domain experience.
• Candidates without chemistry experience must demonstrate exceptional architecture and technical leadership, interest in scientific and laboratory software, and willingness to build deep domain expertise.
