Principal Electrical Engineer

Location: Hiawatha, Iowa, United States; full-time, on-site, Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.; no travel required

What you will do

• Design, develop, and verify electrical wiring, wire harnesses, cables, military connectors, PCB layouts, and circuit card assemblies.
• Convert technical requirements into schematics, PCB layouts, drawings, electrical performance requirements, and manufacturing specifications.
• Research and develop new electrical processes and services, evaluate prototypes, and assess feasibility using engineering theory and simulation models.
• Provide component-level reviews, electrical troubleshooting, debugging, and technical support for manufacturing, technical services, pilot-line builds, and product testing.
• Design electrical test equipment and procedures, coordinate manufacturing and testing activities, and prepare engineering reports and calculations.
• Lead medium-size multidisciplinary project groups, conduct peer reviews, identify process deficiencies, and train and mentor junior engineers.

Requirements

• Must be a US Person: a US citizen, lawful permanent resident, or protected person.
• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or a related engineering field.
• 10+ years of electrical engineering experience.
• Extensive knowledge of PCB design and layouts, wire harnesses and cables, electrical theory, component standards, soldering, and wire assemblies.
• Experience building, troubleshooting, and debugging analog and digital circuit boards and assemblies.
• Ability to lead 4–7-member multidisciplinary teams and work independently on loosely defined projects.

Nice to have

• 3+ years of PCB and schematic layout experience.
• 3+ years of wire harness or cable design experience.
• 10+ years of electrical component building or CAD software experience.
• Leadership experience and knowledge of computer equipment and advanced electrical testing equipment.
