TL;DR
Manufacturing Process Engineer II (Manufacturing Engineering): Planning, designing, and optimizing production equipment, tooling, material handling systems, and manufacturing processes at the Dayton campus with an accent on process capability, capital equipment, and cost reduction. Focus on developing process documentation, evaluating new machinery and methods, coordinating suppliers and installations, and leading projects that improve productivity and reduce downtime and waste.

Location: Onsite in Dayton, Tennessee, United States; up to 25% travel may be required.

What you will do

  • Plan, design, arrange, modify, and optimize manufacturing processes, production equipment, machinery, fixtures, gauges, tooling, and material-handling systems.
  • Develop capital equipment specifications, documentation, budgets, and expenditure recommendations using NPV and ROI analysis.
  • Model alternative processing methods, evaluate new technologies, and recommend improvements that increase productivity, reduce waste, and lower costs.
  • Coordinate fabrication, installation, supplier relationships, field evaluations, and design modifications for manufacturing systems.
  • Maintain CAD documentation for equipment and plant layouts and support product development, R&D, and machine-to-software interfaces.
  • Lead cross-functional project teams and support projects responsible for significant annual cost reductions at the Dayton campus.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field with 2–4 years of manufacturing experience, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and Visio.
  • Experience documenting processes, including process flows, PFMEA, control plans, and work instructions.
  • Knowledge of statistical process control, lean manufacturing, process improvement tools, and technical drawings.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical writing skills, with knowledge of capital appropriation implementation and management.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% and meet applicable driver-program qualifications when driving is required.

Nice to have

  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt experience.
  • Change management and strong organization and time-management skills.
  • Experience estimating future manufacturing requirements and potential using statistical methods.
