What you will do
- Set up and operate manual machine shop equipment, including lathes, mills, drill presses, and grinders.
- Machine, repair, modify, and fabricate mechanical parts, components, and production tooling.
- Read blueprints, drawings, sketches, and technical specifications to determine machining methods and procedures.
- Perform turning, milling, drilling, boring, grinding, and other conventional machining operations.
- Use micrometers, calipers, depth gauges, feeler gauges, and other precision measuring instruments to verify dimensions and tolerances.
- Troubleshoot mechanical and machining problems, assist with equipment repairs, and collaborate with maintenance and production teams to reduce downtime.
Requirements
- Previous manual machining experience, including operating conventional lathes and milling machines.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and mechanical drawings.
- Knowledge of machining practices, tooling, feeds, speeds, and tolerances.
- Experience using precision measuring tools and repairing or fabricating mechanical components.
- Strong mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting ability, attention to detail, and commitment to quality and safety.
- High school diploma/GED, technical training, or equivalent hands-on experience preferred.
Nice to have
- Trade school, machine shop, mechanical maintenance, welding, fabrication, millwright, tool and die, or other skilled trades experience.
