TL;DR
Lead High-Speed PCB Layout Engineer (Aerospace): Building high-speed digital and mixed-signal PCB layouts for radar satellites with an accent on Altium implementation, signal integrity, power integrity, and manufacturing release. Focus on defining stack-ups and impedance constraints, designing return-path and reference-plane strategies, and solving SI/PI and noise-coupling challenges in hardware destined for orbit.
Location: Redwood City, California, United States; on-site
Salary: $160,000–$200,000 per year, with flexibility between salary and equity-based compensation.
Company
builds advanced radar satellite systems that create high-resolution, real-time 3D maps of Earth for disaster response, infrastructure resilience, and mission-critical intelligence.
What you will do
- Own high-speed PCB layout in Altium from component placement through manufacturing release.
- Define stack-ups, impedance targets, length-matching constraints, and reference-plane and return-path strategies.
- Translate schematics and performance requirements into mixed-signal and high-speed digital layouts that meet signal integrity and power integrity requirements.
- Collaborate with electrical design, firmware, mechanical, and test engineers on constraints, design reviews, and first-pass success.
- Drive DFM and DFT requirements with fabrication and assembly partners, including documentation and release artifacts.
- Support lab bring-up, hardware debug, qualification, and environmental testing.
Requirements
- B.S. in Electrical Engineering or a related field, with 8+ years of relevant experience.
- Experience with PCB layout, fabrication, and release of high-speed digital and mixed-signal electronics.
- Experience with constraint-driven routing, impedance control, length matching, stack-up development, and dense high-performance boards.
- Strong understanding of layout-driven signal integrity and power integrity, including return paths, reference planes, via transitions, and noise coupling.
- Comfort with Altium Designer and clean manufacturing outputs; experience with manufacturing release, DFM/DFT, and fabrication and assembly partners.
- Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, protected individual, or eligible to obtain required U.S. Department of State authorizations under ITAR.
Nice to have
- Familiarity with Allegro or OrCAD.
- Experience with SI/PI analysis tools such as Ansys SIwave, Keysight Power Analyzer, HyperLynx, or Sigrity.
- Experience taking high-performance hardware from prototype through qualification and environmental testing.
Culture & Benefits
- Work on next-generation radar satellite technology and real-time Earth observation.
- Fast-paced environment with significant time constraints and high personal accountability.
- Competitive compensation with flexibility between salary and equity-based compensation.
- Equal opportunity employment based on merit, competence, and qualifications.
Hiring process
- Interviews are conducted via Google Meet.
- The typical process takes approximately 2–4 weeks from start to finish.
