Associate Fiber Engineer (Fiber Network Design)

Location: Downers Grove, Illinois, United States. Applicants must already be authorized to work full time in the United States; employer-sponsored work authorization is not available.

Estimated base pay: $48,700–$74,900 per year.

Provides mission-critical bandwidth and communications infrastructure, including dark fiber, private data networks, wavelengths, Ethernet, and dedicated Internet access across North America and Europe.

What you will do

• Design point-to-point, ring, and path-diverse routes for fiber-based services.
• Research network databases, files, and records to support design, optimization, and fiber facility relocations.
• Prepare fiber-path and splicing schematics for new projects, relocations, and traffic restoration.
• Maintain accurate records of fiber cables, enclosures, conduits, buildings, circuits, and other physical network assets.
• Coordinate with Outside Plant, GIS, Sales Engineering, and Fiber Visualization teams, as well as internal and external customers.
• Prioritize assignments and organize work efficiently using effective time-management practices.

Requirements

• Four-year college degree in Engineering or equivalent telecommunications network experience.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, including Microsoft Visio.
• Experience using database management software.
• Knowledge of fiber network design and design techniques, tools, and practices.
• Strong analytical, organizational, time-management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Current full-time United States work authorization is required; OPT, TN, H-1B, and other future or current employer-sponsored visas are not accepted.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of Salesforce.com.
• Knowledge of GIS-based platforms.
• Telecommunications industry experience.
• Basic fiber network design experience.
