TL;DR
Senior .Net Azure Developer (Kafka): Design and build resilient, event-driven microservices for ecommerce order management, inventory, and omnichannel fulfillment with an accent on .NET, Kafka, Temporal, and Azure. Focus on solving distributed-systems challenges involving workflow durability, ordering guarantees, fault tolerance, idempotency, and high-scale retail processing.
Location: Grand Rapids, Michigan, United States; remote work from home

What you will do
- Design, build, and maintain scalable .NET/C# backend microservices for order management, inventory, and fulfillment workflows.
- Implement durable, long-running business processes for order-to-fulfillment and ship-to-store routing using Temporal.
- Produce and consume Apache Kafka events, designing topics, partitioning strategies, and schemas for high-throughput processing.
- Architect and deploy cloud-native services on Microsoft Azure using AKS, Azure Functions, Service Bus, Event Hubs, and API Management.
- Diagnose distributed-service production issues involving message ordering, idempotency, retries, and eventual consistency.
- Participate in design and code reviews, CI/CD, observability, architectural decisions, and mentoring of junior and mid-level developers.
Requirements
- 6+ years of professional software development experience with .NET/C#, ASP.NET Core, and .NET 6+.
- Production experience with Apache Kafka, including producers and consumers, schema registry, partitioning, consumer-group scaling, and failure handling.
- Experience with Temporal or comparable workflow orchestration engines such as Camunda, AWS Step Functions, or Cadence.
- Strong experience operating Azure microservices with AKS/Kubernetes, Azure Functions, Service Bus, and Event Hubs.
- Knowledge of distributed systems, SQL Server or PostgreSQL, Cosmos DB, Redis, Docker, Kubernetes, testing, CI/CD, and infrastructure as code with Terraform or Bicep.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience, plus strong communication skills in an ecommerce or retail context.
