TL;DR
Regulatory Accounting Advisor (Utility Finance): Managing regulatory balancing and memo accounts, FERC Formula Rate revenue requirements, operating revenue accounting, and financial reporting with an accent on GAAP compliance, audits, budgeting, and regulatory cost recovery. Focus on analyzing regulatory accounting mechanisms, preparing complex financial and regulatory reports, and reconciling financial data across accounting, tax, treasury, and regulatory functions.
Location: Rosemead, California, US; hybrid work mode with required attendance at an SCE facility. Employees are generally required to work and reside in California.
Salary: $129,200–$193,700 annually.

What you will do
- Account for regulatory balancing and memo accounts, FERC Formula Rate revenue requirements, and operating revenue.
- Oversee general ledger processes and month-end close entries.
- Lead annual financial statement audits and coordinate with internal teams and external accounting firms.
- Prepare and review monthly and annual financial statements, regulatory reports, cash reports, and reconciliations.
- Lead annual budget development and support quarterly forecasts and variance analysis.
- Collaborate with regulatory affairs, operational finance, treasury, and tax teams to assess recovery mechanisms.
Requirements
- Seven or more years of accounting experience.
- Experience interpreting and applying Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Experience with financial reporting, month-end close, journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis.
- Experience with regulatory or utility accounting and cost recovery mechanisms.
- Advanced Microsoft Office and Excel skills, including VLOOKUP formulas, macros, and pivot tables.
- Experience with SAP or similar enterprise software and SOX controls.
Nice to have
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in accounting, finance, business, or a related field.
- Active or inactive Certified Public Accountant license.
- Experience in a public accounting firm or regulated utility.
- Experience reviewing advice letters and regulatory decisions and assessing their financial impact.
