Diesel Technician/Mechanic III

Location: St. Louis, Missouri, United States; on-site

Salary: $25.00–$29.33 per hour, with possible additional bonus, equity, or commission compensation.

What you will do

• Diagnose malfunctions and repair major school bus systems, including steering, electrical, cooling, braking, drivetrain, suspension, clutch, transmission, and engine components.
• Test-drive vehicles to confirm that repairs have resolved reported problems.
• Arrange inspections and obtain approval for major repairs before releasing vehicles from the maintenance facility.
• Perform assigned road calls and on-the-road repairs.
• Maintain a safe, clean, productive, and compliant maintenance area.
• Document labor time, parts used, completed repairs, and additional maintenance needs.

Requirements

• Two to four years of medium- or heavy-duty truck fleet mechanic repair experience.
• Diagnostic, electrical, and air-conditioning skills.
• Technical knowledge of major vehicle systems and diesel equipment, including diesel and gasoline systems.
• Recommended minimum hand tools for a diesel technician.
• Good judgment and decision-making skills.
• Valid applicable state license and CDL required.
