TL;DR
Sr. Market Design Specialist I (II) (Electricity Market Design): Designing, analyzing, and optimizing PJM electricity market structures and rules to support power-system reliability during the energy transition with an accent on quantitative analysis, market research, and stakeholder alignment. Focus on developing market design alternatives, revising governing documents and FERC filings, and leading cross-functional implementation initiatives.
Location: Audubon, Pennsylvania, United States; hybrid work arrangement

What you will do
- Analyze electricity market trends and ISO/RTO rules to identify opportunities and inform market design decisions.
- Design, evaluate, and optimize market structures, rules, and strategies across PJM markets.
- Prepare position papers and develop concepts to support internal decisions on complex market design matters.
- Present complex ideas to internal and external stakeholders and help build consensus among market participants.
- Assist with revisions to PJM governing documents and FERC filings, including transmittal letters and affidavits, in collaboration with legal counsel.
- Lead implementation of complex market design initiatives across cross-functional teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, business, economics, mathematics, or equivalent work experience.
- At least 5 years of experience in an engineering or analyst position.
- Experience with quantitative and qualitative analysis.
- Ability to apply mathematical and electrical theory, troubleshoot issues, and provide technical support.
- Ability to produce high-quality work with strong attention to detail.
- Immigration sponsorship is not available, and PJM is not STEM OPT eligible.
Nice to have
- MS degree in engineering or at least 8 years of experience as a senior engineer or senior analyst.
- Experience with PJM operations, markets, and planning functions.
