Salary: Starting at $90,000 annually, commensurate with experience, education, and qualifications.

’s Technology Transfer Office supports research commercialization, technology licensing, entrepreneurship, startup development, and economic development through partnerships with industry and Montana companies.
What you will do
- Advise Technology Transfer Office leadership on financial strategy, resource allocation, risks, and operational decisions.
- Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, budget-to-actual analysis, variance reporting, and long-range financial planning.
- Manage post-award grant administration and ensure compliance with university policies, sponsor requirements, and applicable regulations.
- Oversee licensing royalties, inventor distributions, licensee reporting, and federally required iEdison utilization reports.
- Manage the Catalyst Startup Incubator’s budgets, funding streams, fee structures, and financial reporting.
- Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, internal controls, reporting tools, and coordination with central administrative units.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Five or more years of progressively responsible experience in financial management, including budgeting, accounting, and financial analysis.
- Experience developing and managing complex budgets and long-range financial plans.
- Experience using enterprise financial systems and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
- Ability to comply with U.S. federal export control requirements, which may require proof of U.S. person status.
Nice to have
- Experience in higher education, government, or nonprofit financial management.
- Experience with processes, policies, systems, or Ellucian Banner.
- Experience with federal grant regulations, including Uniform Guidance under 2 CFR 200.
- Experience supporting human resources functions such as hiring and payroll.
- Experience with intellectual property, licensing, royalty systems such as Minuet, startup incubators, or core research facilities.
