Data Systems Engineer (Aerospace Data Systems): Designing, integrating, testing, and maintaining data systems for hypersonic aircraft avionics with an accent on flight-test data processing, telemetry, instrumentation, and software tool development. Focus on building data ingestion methods, troubleshooting data quality, integrating distributed acquisition systems, and supporting aircraft integration and flight-readiness testing.
Location: On-site in Mojave, California, United States. Travel may be required and is estimated at less than 10%. The position follows a 9/80 schedule.
Base salary by level: $68,000–$109,000 for Level I, $82,500–$132,500 for Level II, and $98,000–$158,000 for the Senior level.

What you will do
- Manage and process flight-test data in standard and non-standard formats within a centralized database.
- Create and maintain data-ingestion methods and troubleshoot data-quality issues through root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Develop and maintain software tools for configuration management, simulation, deployment, and data analysis.
- Define, document, and manage subsystem requirements for new configurations.
- Develop and support instrumentation, networking, telemetry, and integration tests, including power checks, sensor calibration, and equipment checkout.
- Collaborate with design engineers, network engineers, and technicians, and prepare materials for design, flight-readiness, and post-operation reviews.
Requirements
- Experience in telemetry, instrumentation, or network engineering in an operational or regulated test environment.
- Experience with Ethernet networking, TCP, UDP, multicasting, data-acquisition instrumentation, dataloggers, and mission-control software integration.
- Experience writing system requirements and developing data-processing scripts for Windows and Linux.
- Programming expertise in at least one of C, C++, or Python; familiarity with Jenkins or Bamboo and Git.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, plus proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.
- Ability to acquire and maintain a Department of War security clearance; U.S. citizenship may be required for some government-cleared or restricted positions.
Nice to have
- Flight-test instrumentation, aircraft, launch-vehicle, aircraft-build, piloting, or flight-test experience.
- Experience configuring and monitoring end-to-end telemetry testing and knowledge of IRIG 106 telemetry standards.
- Mission Control Room console experience and an active Department of War TS/SCI clearance.
- Experience with relational, document, or time-series databases; Curtiss-Wright or Safran Data Acquisition Units; or VBA.
