Diesel Technician/Mechanic II

What you will do

• Diagnose malfunctions and repair school buses across steering, electrical, cooling, braking, drivetrain, suspension, clutch, transmission, engine, and related systems.
• Test-drive vehicles to confirm that repairs have resolved identified problems.
• Arrange inspections and obtain approval for major repairs before releasing vehicles.
• Perform road calls and on-road repairs as assigned.
• Maintain a safe, clean, productive, and compliant maintenance area.
• Document labor time, parts used, repairs completed, and additional maintenance needs.

Requirements

• Two to four years of medium- or heavy-truck fleet mechanic repair experience.
• Required diagnostic, electrical, and air-conditioning skills.
• Technical knowledge of major vehicle systems and diesel equipment.
• Fleet experience with diesel and gasoline systems.
• Recommended minimum hand tools for a diesel technician.
• Good judgment and decision-making skills.
