TL;DR
Mechanical Camera & Sensor Calibration Engineer (Robotics): Building and owning production calibration pipelines for cameras, IMUs, and multi-sensor rigs with an accent on intrinsic and extrinsic calibration, factory infrastructure, and data quality. Focus on developing repeatable verification systems, debugging sensor alignment issues, and scaling calibration across deployed hardware fleets.
Location: On-site in Shenzhen or Toronto; Mandarin and work allowance in China required
Compensation: CA$160K–CA$200K annually, plus equity

What you will do
- Deliver accurate camera intrinsic and extrinsic calibration values and IMU calibration values for production systems.
- Own the end-to-end calibration pipeline, including camera intrinsics and extrinsics, IMU calibration, and multi-sensor alignment.
- Ensure factory calibration is performed consistently and on schedule across the hardware fleet.
- Build and maintain calibration infrastructure, including tooling, fixtures, validation scripts, and documentation.
- Develop automated calibration verification and quality assurance systems.
- Collaborate with hardware and embedded teams and debug calibration issues across deployed systems.
Requirements
- Hands-on experience with camera calibration, including intrinsics, extrinsics, stereo, and multi-camera rigs.
- Practical experience with IMU calibration and tuning, including bias estimation, alignment, and noise characterization.
- Understanding of sensor fusion fundamentals and the impact of calibration quality on downstream systems.
- Experience building production calibration tooling and infrastructure, preferably in manufacturing or hardware deployment environments.
- Ability to speak Mandarin and obtain work allowance in China.
- Detail-oriented, methodical, comfortable working with physical hardware, and capable of tracing data-quality issues to root causes.
Nice to have
- Familiarity with OpenCV, Kalibr, or similar calibration frameworks.
- Experience with multi-sensor calibration, including camera-IMU systems.
- Background in autonomous vehicles, robotics, or AR/VR hardware calibration.
- Experience with factory or production-line calibration processes.
- Knowledge of uncertainty quantification and error analysis.
