Junior Engineer (EIT) - Bridge Inspection

Location: Missoula, Montana, United States; onsite. The role includes occasional travel to structures across the United States, mobilization to other offices or states, and short-notice travel for emergency work.

What you will do

• Conduct safety inspections of bridges, overhead signs, dams, tunnels, and other structures.
• Collect measurements, photographs, and structural condition data using tablets and various testing methods.
• Use specialized access and inspection equipment, including ladders, drones, hydraulic lifts, climbing equipment, diving equipment, and sonar scanning devices.
• Prepare technical inspection reports, electronic drawings, structural analyses, load ratings, and repair or retrofit designs.
• Support scopes of work, fee proposals, and technical responses to proposal requests.
• Mobilize to other offices or states to support inspection teams as required.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related engineering discipline; ABET accreditation is preferred.
• Ability to work constructively in a team, communicate professionally, and grow into supervising others' work.
• Willingness to complete bridge inspection training based on the FHWA Bridge Inspector's Reference Manual and maintain continuing education requirements.
• Must be willing and physically able to perform field bridge inspection work, including travel out of state or on short notice for emergency work.
• Engineer in Training (EIT) or Engineering Intern (EI) certification is a plus.
