Junior Engineer (EIT) - Bridge Inspection (Civil/Structural Engineering): Inspecting bridges and other structures, documenting structural conditions, and preparing technical reports, load ratings, and repair or retrofit designs with an accent on field assessment, structural analysis, and specialized access methods. Focus on conducting inspections with climbing, diving, drones, sonar, and mechanized equipment while developing technical responses and supporting work across U.S. locations.
Location: Missoula, Montana, United States; onsite. The role includes occasional travel to structures across the United States, mobilization to other offices or states, and short-notice travel for emergency work.

What you will do
- Conduct safety inspections of bridges, overhead signs, dams, tunnels, and other structures.
- Collect measurements, photographs, and structural condition data using tablets and various testing methods.
- Use specialized access and inspection equipment, including ladders, drones, hydraulic lifts, climbing equipment, diving equipment, and sonar scanning devices.
- Prepare technical inspection reports, electronic drawings, structural analyses, load ratings, and repair or retrofit designs.
- Support scopes of work, fee proposals, and technical responses to proposal requests.
- Mobilize to other offices or states to support inspection teams as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related engineering discipline; ABET accreditation is preferred.
- Ability to work constructively in a team, communicate professionally, and grow into supervising others' work.
- Willingness to complete bridge inspection training based on the FHWA Bridge Inspector's Reference Manual and maintain continuing education requirements.
- Must be willing and physically able to perform field bridge inspection work, including travel out of state or on short notice for emergency work.
- Engineer in Training (EIT) or Engineering Intern (EI) certification is a plus.
