Sr Phlebotomist

Location: Fairfax, Virginia, United States; onsite and not remote

What you will do

• Perform venipunctures and finger sticks while identifying patients and verifying test requisitions.
• Prepare, track, and maintain the integrity of blood specimens using aseptic technique and department procedures.
• Record quality-control results, collection details, and daily collection tallies.
• Resolve unusual test orders by coordinating with physicians, pathologists, nursing stations, reference laboratories, and supervisors.
• Manage patient reports, answer and triage billing questions, and coordinate courier pickups through FedEx or Medspeed.
• Handle protected health information in paper and electronic systems and complete required privacy and security training.

Requirements

• Minimum five years of phlebotomy experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Phlebotomy certificate if required by the state.
• Ability to follow professional, hospital, federal, state, local, and JCAHO standards.
• Ability to work in an office setting while wearing scrubs and tracking every draw.
