Sr Phlebotomist - Houston, TX

What you will do

• Verify test requisitions and patient identities before collection.
• Collect blood specimens through venipunctures and finger sticks.
• Prepare, track, and maintain specimen integrity using aseptic and isolation procedures.
• Maintain quality-control records, follow testing schedules, and report required changes.
• Resolve unusual test orders with physicians, pathologists, nursing stations, and reference laboratories.
• Manage patient reports, triage billing questions, follow up with patients, and schedule FedEx or Medspeed pickups.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of phlebotomy experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Phlebotomy certificate required if mandated by the state.
• BS/BA degree preferred.
• Ability to follow professional, hospital, federal, state, local, and JCAHO standards.
• Completion of HIPAA/PHI privacy, policy compliance, and security training within the first 30 days of hire is required.
