Senior Data Center Engineer

Location: San Antonio, TX, United States

Salary: $68–$80 per hour, depending on experience

What you will do

• Install, remove, upgrade, relocate, patch, label, and manage cabling for server, storage, and network equipment.
• Perform rack and stack activities, including rail installations and physical infrastructure support.
• Manage hardware deployments, decommissions, inventory, and asset tracking.
• Assess workflows and identify opportunities to automate routine activities and improve operational efficiency.
• Collaborate with engineering, project management, and operations teams to execute data center work accurately.
• Develop standardized procedures, documentation, and repeatable processes while following safety and change-management standards.

Requirements

• 8+ years of hands-on experience supporting enterprise or colocation data center environments.
• Experience with hardware deployments, decommissions, inventory management, and asset tracking.
• Strong understanding of server hardware, rail systems, power distribution, and data center operational standards.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently.
• Experience using Microsoft SharePoint, Teams, and the broader Microsoft application suite.

Nice to have

• Experience implementing process improvements and driving operational efficiencies in data center environments.
• Experience with scripting or automation technologies such as PowerShell or Python.
