Executive Director, Assessment

Location: Remote - USA. Candidates near hirify.global offices may work fully remotely or hybrid, with office attendance on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Occasional business travel is required.

Salary: $144,000–$210,000 per year, adjusted based on location, experience, qualifications, and market data.

What you will do

• Lead assessment design for 6–8 new career-focused AP courses and future courses developed by the department.
• Develop test blueprints, pilot exam versions, assessment formats, scoring models, and annual item and version development plans.
• Identify and implement traditional, skills-based, project-based, and performance-based item types that validly measure target skills.
• Design assessment models that support workforce credentials and employer or industry recognition.
• Partner with psychometric, curriculum, innovation, design, and program management teams on validity, equating, standard setting, and exam delivery.
• Build and lead the assessment design team, oversee subject matter expert training, and approve assessment deliverables at project milestones.

Requirements

• 10–15+ years of experience in assessment design, test development, or curriculum leadership with hands-on assessment and measurement experience.
• Demonstrated innovation in skills-based, project-based, or credential-connected assessment models.
• Working fluency with assessment data and psychometric outputs, including item statistics, score distributions, and equating concepts.
• Experience managing complex, multi-stakeholder timelines with fixed external deadlines.
• Experience driving organizational change, building stakeholder buy-in, and leading teams in a matrixed organization.
• Authorization to work in the United States is required.
